NWIOI is committed to raising the standard of care in intimacy and sexuality therapy by providing comprehensive, systemic training for clinicians. We prepare professionals to navigate the complexity of relational and sexual health with competence, ethical clarity, and confidence.

Why NWIOI Exists
Closing a Critical Gap in Clinical Training
The Northwest Institute on Intimacy was created in response to a persistent gap in clinical education. Many therapists, physicians, and clergy receive little to no formal training in sexual health, despite its central role in human relationships. At the same time, many professionals specializing in sexuality have limited training in relational and couple dynamics.
This divide leaves clinicians underprepared to fully understand and treat the interconnected nature of intimacy, relationships, and individual experience. It also leaves clients navigating care that may be incomplete, fragmented, or misinformed.
NWIOI exists to address that gap by providing training that integrates sexuality, relational dynamics, and systemic understanding into one cohesive clinical framework.

Relational, Systemic, and Clinically Grounded
Intimacy does not exist in isolation. It is shaped by individual history, relational patterns, culture, identity, and lived experience. Effective clinicians must be able to understand and work within these interconnected systems.
At NWIOI, our training is grounded in relational and systemic approaches that help clinicians move beyond surface-level interventions. We teach clinicians to assess and treat the full context of a client's experience, including internal dynamics, couple systems, and broader influences that shape intimacy and sexuality.
This approach supports deeper clinical insight, more thoughtful interventions, and more effective, sustainable outcomes for clients.
